The Loch Carron Treehouse is now under new management, and a work party was organised over the 13th and 14th of October to give the unique community owned building some much needed TLC and maintenance.
The building is owned on behalf of the community by Lochcarron Community Development Company ( LCDC) and it was recently agreed that Smithy Hub tenants, Balnacra Pottery, and Freedom Framery together could take on the role of managing it as tenants. We are grateful for LCDC putting their trust in us to get this wonderful venue back up and running on a regular basis. We will be running it as a Not-For -Profit project, with all booking fees and any funds raised getting reinvested into the building and it’s surrounds.
The response to the two-day work party was fantastic! A huge thankyou to everyone who came along and got stuck in, an incredible number of jobs were achieved with everyone’s ideas, hard work, and skills. Some of the many jobs that got done were,

- clearing access paths.
- repairing rotten decking section.
- cleaning decking.
- installing new lighting.
- repairing safety netting on balcony.
- stabilising the drawbridge and improving the accessibility ramp.
- clearing overhanging branches.
- clearing the roof of debris
- re sealing gaps between wall sections.
- a good deep clean.
- clearing steps.
- strimming the area.
- levelling the access ramp.
- installing foot boards for safety on the balcony.
We could not have achieved any of this without everyone’s support.
It was also very sociable with a shared lunch break at the Pottery.
In the coming weeks and months, we will be running events and fundraising for improvements and repairs, there’s lots to be done, but we can all have a lot of fun in the process. The Treehouse is an amazing venue, and it’s very exciting to see it entering a new chapter.
Thankyou everyone for your support, Vicky, Ross & Trish.
